Welcome to Beach Town by Susan Wiggs

An exceedingly wonderful and compassionate story of Nikkii Graziola at two periods of her life. Both periods are critical to her emotional well being and the impact on her life. She grew up in a small California beach town rife with gossip, affluent townspeople, and a town dominating family network. Each of these elements bear down on her and the choices she makes. Nikki is a strong woman even in her weakest moments. A very excellent story.

The Sweetheart List by Jill Shalvis

Three hurt filled people with pain filled lives connect and find the missing pieces they need. All is not easy nor rosy as Harper, Bodie and teenage Ivy discover. Harper discovers runaway Ivy and brings her along as Harper begins to create her bakery. Brodie is the hunk next door and also the landlord of the shop. A slow burning romance heats up for Harper and Bodie even though they have guards around their hearts. The up and down story line is wonderful and so enhances the entire story.

The Getaway House by Megan Squires

The stories of Edie, Camile, and Tabitha continue from the end of The Seascape Inn, Tumultuous times ensue for all three as they grapple with love, relationships, and life in general. Tabitha is at odds with her work and with an overly amorous fellow doctor. Edie has ended a relationship due to communication issues and begins to seek out what she really wants in life. Camile has opened her B & B and has suspicions about a month-long guest. An engaging story.

Stealing Mr. Right by Sinclair Jayne Sawhney

Such an enjoyable romp into Indian customs, terms, and love. The whole book is really a delightful delve into the meanings of love as presented by podcaster Rani. Plus, she is determined to find love matches for her cousins in Jasminder. He, however, has alternative reasons for involvement with Rani. She throws him for a loop and he does the same for her. Something’s gotta give.

My Goodbye Girl by Anna Gomez

Tessa and Simon had a brief encounter on a plane and crossed paths at a hotel which led to meeting up with each other across the globe. Simon is sure about how he feels. Tessa is flighty and full of uncertainty. Their romance is chemistry filled until a disaster separates them.

An interesting take on love at first sight and the roads traveled as it developed more fully.

A Cowboy's Promise by Anne McAllister

Such an enchantingly emotional story full of apprehension and worry. It is the best of second chance romances with decisions made out of fear and experiences that change perspectives.

The story of Cait and Charlie is a heartfelt tale of discovering what is true and real.

B'Nai Mitzvah Mistake by Stacy Agdern

'Nai

Ms. Agdern writes such lovely stories that have Jewish aspects and culture. In this engaging story she tackles Jewish hockey representation mixed with a love story fraught with problems. Will love conquer all or are the problems too large to overcome?

What Could Have Been by Jess Sinclair

A very touching story of lost love, of family, and of redemption. An emotionally and physically abused wife and her son return to her childhood home after a ten year absence. She begins to heal and along the way searches to uncover the truth about her mother’s death, encountering several mysteries about it. She also encounters the love of her life. It jolts them both as they discover the depths of their love.

A Scavenger Hunt for Hearts by Kathy Strobos

A short and sweet easy on the eyes romance. A chance meeting leads to cute growing feelings between a lawyer and an artist. She is in a painting funk from a break up. He has not dated for quite a while. They might be perfect for each other.

The Stars Don't Lie by Boo Walker

A touching story following a man’s journey to reckoning with the hurt and humiliation that drove him away from his home and family. When Carter returns home after a twenty year absence, it is initially his desire to hide and not see any of his friends. He has avoided the town for all those years and only returns at the request of his mother. Events intervene and Carter begins to understand how much being away has cost him. It is a very captivating story,

The Wife App by Carolyn Mackler

Three friends, Lauren, Madeline and Sophie, jokingly talk about a wife app to take care of the Mental Load wives feel, the overwhelming chores to do without any spousal support. Then, Bingo! Lauren works to create the app and the three friends are the first wives. Told in rotating perspectives, it is a story of how they deal with stuff in their own lives and how the app affects them.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book and could relate to some of the mental Load duties. The characters are different from each other and have their own unique problems which adds flavor to the story.

What Became of Magic by Paige Crutcher

Pages of magic and love flow into an exciting story of good versus evil. There is one witch who can save the magic world from destruction, Aline. She is not aware of the power she holds until characters erupt from the pages to help her along the way. One of these characters is Magic, a man she read about in a book and who creates wonderful dreams as she sleeps. She is in his dreams, too. They, together, are a force to be reckoned with but it is Aline who must battle the force of evil.

A great book loaded with portals, mysterious doors, and a battle of wits and magic.

And Then There's Margaret by Carolyn Clarke

Life is a pity party extraordinaire for Allie whose mother-in-law (Margaret) is one for the books. When Margaret’s husband dies, she temporarily moves in with Allie and Hank. Margaret proceeds to take over the house. She is critical and full of barbs aimed at Allie. Allie is as gracious as she can be until the intolerable behavior becomes way too much. There are a few humorous scenes but not enough to bring relief from Margaret’s behavior. I finished the book but really wanted to just close it and walk away.

Excavations by Hannah Mitchell

Amid a sea of corruption and deceit, a young mother searches for the truth of her husband’s death in the destruction of a skyscraper. Sae was married to Jae but he never spoke of his childhood and youth stating he was an orphan. Using her journalistic training, Sae digs into the building’s collapse and her husband’s connection to it. It is an engrossing story of corruption, power, and ruthlessness.

Where the Grass Grows Blue by Hope Gibbs

This is a marvelous story of an upended life finding a future when all is lost. The character of Penny has more to cope with besides her husband’s cheating and divorce. Her ugly past surfaces when she travels to her childhood home to empty the house of her beloved grandmother. Terrible memories haunt her in each room. Softening the blows is her first love who re-enters her life during this painful time. The sparks reignite but all is not well as her journey progressives even with the second chance she desires.

The Summer of Songbirds by Kristy Woodson Harvey

The summer at camp for three girls brought lifelong friendships that filled each of their lives. Now adults, they join forces to save the camp that they love so much. Losing it would forever remove a place of comfort and memories. Their plan is to reinvigorate the camp and create a thriving business there again. Along the way, two lost loves are revisited and romance takes a chance.

Save What's Left by Elizabeth Castellano

This is a crazy rendition about a woman whose husband leaves for a world cruise without her, begins a divorce, and moves to an Eastern coastal town. She becomes immersed in town business and antics with her aged neighbor, Rosemary. Their deeds are nuts and delightful. Anyone over fifty will relate.

Meet Me at Home by Veronica Wynne

I just finished Meet Me at Home and I am so glad. I was lucky to receive an advanced reader’s copy. It is a more than lovely and moving novel, so much more.

The grief of Kate over the sudden death of her husband is huge. She is floundering in it, unable to live life. Her pain is expertly expressed in her actions, her words, her expressions. Meeting Liam, also grieving the death of his wife, Kate’s true recovery begins along with Liam’s. The rocky road of their journey is fraught with pull me-push you as the time passes.

I found myself being pulled further and further into the story wishing, wanting, hoping. This is a novel you do not want to miss.

Summer Stage by Meg Mitchell Moore

Summer brings a huge opportunity to stage a Shakespeare play for Timothy, Gertie, Amy, and Samantha. It also ushers in a series of conflicts, emotions, and fears. Timothy is a sixty plus movie star and director at odds with life. Amy, his sister, has devoted her life to her kids after ending her fledgling screenwriter career. Samantha, her daughter, fled New York because of TikTok pressures. Gertie just desires to go back to her training and do Shakespeare. As their lives interact, secrets come to light causing eruptions of long held emotions. A really great read.

The Texas Cowboy's Rescue by Debra Holt

Loved this story to pieces. Deke and Kenzie have long standing trust issues from past relationship failures, Their walls are very thick and slow to tear down. The help of Kenzie’s precocious six year old daughter is just the gentle sledgehammer those walls need.

A very sweet story of two people destined for each other.

The Summer Wedding Hoax by Jamie Rogers

What a cute story! The characters of Will and Ava are so delightful, especially with all of their doubts and internal running commentaries. The gist of the story is can longtime friends transition to a love relationship? Truly a delightful story.

This Child of Mine by Emma-Claire Wilson

This Child of Mine is a story of the painful journey a woman makes when she learns she has ovarian cancer and is just into her second trimester pregnancy. Stephanie and James have plotted out their lives-home and family. She is ecstatic to be finally pregnant and now faces a hard reality. She is wrapped up in her feelings and emotions and fails to consider James’ feelings. It is not an easy book to read. It is filled with true emotions, fears and struggles.

Summer's Celestial Plea by Leigh Ann Edwards

The plight of four friends continues as they once again exchange bodies in a pact they made with a witch. The pact is almost over and the journey begins through the life of another. Rhianwynn is desperate for it all to be over. She fears her love Broccan is about to figure everything out and the friends will be trapped in the wrong bodies. The deception continues, evil is dealt with, and love is all mixed up. I cannot wait for the last book in the series.

Cowboy Meets Cowgirl by Jeannie Watt

A woman with a hurt heart and a man with walls around his find each other at chemistry driven odds. Trace is a local contractor hired to renovate Em’s small home. They have a past-not one of love but a tired history. She is trying to find her footing and running scared of a relationship. He has found himself in love. It is a wonderful story of love, trust, and facing fears.
