An incredible story chronicling the survival, grit, and determination by the older woman who survived concentration camps during WWII. Her new companion to the Shetlands slowly draws the ordeal out, bringing the two women understanding of each other. The companion took the job to get away from her own sadness and needed to come to a life altering decision.
I was not aware of the German impact on Norway prior to this novel. The research done by the author was extensive and thorough, creating a fascinating and harrowing story. It is a very emotional story at times and perfect with the narrative. Excellent, excellent novel.
