She is engaged at a long ago manor now a retirement apartment home. The home has a variety of people living in boredom until she is hired to clean up the five ancient and neglected gardens. Miracles appear as the residents regain their excitement at living through her happy personality. Trouble lurks on the horizon for the residents.
I have enjoyed novels by Ms Goudge for many years.Her writing is exceptional as are her characters. This novel is an excellent combination of lost love through widowhood and found love’s footing through an older man who shows compassion and the steadiness of age. A lovely story.

Cute story of an aged dog determined to find love for his master who is mired in grief. Together they meet the perfect woman but the master and the woman get off on the wrong foot. It is somehow up to the dog to get them to see the light. The dog’s musings are so funny.
