The Girl with Nowhere to Go by Louise Guy

An extremely emotional story, the kind that breaks your heart while it is also uplifting. It concerns the topics of death, suicide, and abandonment tempered by new friendships and bonds. A very worthwhile read.

Harriet in Waiting by Rachel Del Grosso

A gripping and emotional story of a wife blindsided by her husband and left to grapple with the emotions of herself and of her fifteen year old twin daughter and son. Her emotions are raw and true as she struggles to make sense of it all.

The Cowboy's Comeback by Nan Reinhardt

One of the sweetest books I have read in a while. The ruined relationship of Cassie and Bo takes center stage as, after five years apart, they come face to face. It is time for them to either clear the air and face their emotions or to run for cover and continue to hide. The choice is theirs alone.

An American Scandal by Theresa Howes

An 1895 era story reminiscent of Jane Austen. Love crises caused by match making blunders, the plight of prostitutes in New York, and the cruelty of high society join together to form a captivating story.

The French House Share by Gillian Harvey

A delightful story of a young woman finding her true self in Versailles, France. A cast of wonderful characters fills the pages along her nervous and insecure journey.

The Inn at Penglas Cove by Lauren Westerwood

The past and present collide when a woman inherits an inn in the Cornish countryside from an unknown aunt. Strange events start happening, her teen son disappears for hours exploring the network of old caves beneath the inn, and love springs from an unexpected source. Creatively written and filled with lore and family history.

How to be Fabulous by Carmen Reid

Fashion, fiascos, and family define this novel. They all weave together to tell of the months leading up to a high fashion and carefully curated charity event. It is organized by an ambitious woman who is also in the grips of family drama on a daily basis. A novel topic, fun at times and slow at others.

The Kindness of Strangers by Emma Garman

A terrific old style mystery with many multilevel characters and interesting life roads.

Witch Season by Julia Bianco

Quite a thriller. An evil, powerful but aging witch, begins a course to take over using strong magic. Her protege is desperate to stop her and is joined by a handsome but not trusted witch. Mayhem and deceit abound.

The Sweet Life Cafe by Helen Rolfe

Such a wonderful novel. The first part will cause you to weep over all the mistakes, worries, and sadness. I was so moved by the characters and by all of the anxieties they felt. The second half of the book is for you to decide. Helen Rolfe’s writing and storytelling is exquisite.

The Sheriff's Rescue by Stella Holt

Hot and spicy romance blooms between the local deputy sheriff and the black sheep daughter of the town’s rich and entitled family.

The Shippers by Katherine Center

An absolutely fantastic story. Friends to lovers through a perfectly hilarious route, full of twists, turns, and just plain delightful events, and some not so delightful events. I found myself championing for Cooper through the whole story while feeling the crazy notions of Josie. Told in first person, Josie’s perspective is sometimes funny, sometimes not.

This is yet another Katherine Center jewel.

Magic and Mischief at the Wayside Hotel by Elizabeth Everett

Imagine locating the perfect apartment for yourself and your four year old son-perfect rent, adorable accommodations and lots of strange things happening. Not necessarily dangerous things are going on in the hotel. Just magical things keep happening. Josie and Amos live with all the strangeness and she is baffled by it all. Making everything better is the manager-a compassionate, handsome, and very, very likeable man. There is a definite reason why Josie and Amos are renting an apartment but not every tenant is happy about it. Lots of fun and antics that entertain throughout.

A Yorkshire Affair by Julie Houston

The story is about Jess-mother of an eleven going on sixteen daughter and a philandering husband. She has several life changing decisions to make from job to finally finding freedom and the possibility of new love.

Night Songs by Alli Dyer

A powerful and stirring novel telling the troubled lives of Belle (Lou) and of her daughter Rhea, Both are of a family in which women were cursed to die at thirty-three. Told from  both Belle’s and Rheas’s eyes, the evidence of mental illness is clear to the reader but not to the subjects. A moving novel.

Stranger Things have Happened by Kasie West

Kasie West writes fun and marvelous novels. This one is right up there. Strangers to lovers, personal problems, and a bitter mother add depth to the story. The twist near the end is unexpected. I thoroughly enjoyed it,

The Kosher Conundrum by Stacey Agdern

A conundrum is the perfect term for the dilemmas Naomi and Jason each have. As a party planner, Naomi’s future was bright until her terrible boss unexpectedly closed shop and left her hanging. Jason is the next gen for his family’s knish business but he wants to add catering-not his family’s choice. They work together, hiding their relationship and troubles brew.

A Fresh Start at a Cornish County Hospital by Jo Barnett

Eve’s fiance suffered a traumatic brain injury just weeks before their wedding. The resultant injury changed everything for them. Two years later, his mother clutches to the hope of normalcy, pulling Eve to stay with Max. Eve meets Felix, Max’s occupational therapist and a chance at love again.

The story is good but drags considerably in the areas of Eve’s feelings of being trapped in the former relationship and in her angst over Max’s mom’s pull on her. Eve’s reasons for staying felt over diagnosed and tedious.
