The Summer You were Mine by Jill Francis

Ellie and Cris were in love after eighteen years as friends. It all blew up and they avoided each other until the wedding of their grandparents in Italy. Both Ellie and Cris’s careers exploded badly. Ellie, a sports podcaster, offers to help Cris, a renown swimmer, to resurrect both their careers. All the while, they fight the spark they both feel.

Delightful story of family and love.

Cruel Summer by Maisey Yates

Oh, my stars-this book is so emotionally fabulous it will be hard to follow with another read. The deep, introspective journey that a woman makes is overflowing with self-discovery. When her husband requests an open marriage so he can sow his wild oats, his selfish self did not entertain a thought that his wife might do some sowing of her own. Each step of her journey is an eye opener. An absolutely fantastic novel.

A Family Matter by Claire Lynch

In 1982, a love relationship between two women became a scandal that society cannot abide by. A mother lost custody of her daughter by court order. She had to leave her daughter with no visitation rights. In 2022, the former husband has cancer. As he faces his diagnosis, his daughter begins to examine her life and wonder where her mother went.

The Cowboy's Best Friend by Megan Crane

A fabulous book. I love the many ways Ms. Crane tells a story-so very touching and expressive. What I honestly loved was the story was mainly his (Boone) which is so refreshing. Her (Sierra) story is there, too, with all her soul searching and growing. I enjoyed every page.

Falling for You Again by Kerry Lonsdale

Absolutely touching and wonderful. The characters of Melli and Aaron will pull at your heart and emotions. I read it in one sitting because the story is so engaging. A book you will want to read.

The Unraveling of Julia by Lisa Scottoline

Intense and thrilling novel with elements of deceit, trickery, and murder. Every page brings more questions of “why” with answers perfectly tied together. An excellent psychological thriller.

The Witching Moon Manor by Stacy Sivinski

A witching delight full of enchantment and mystery. The Quigley triplet witches are brought together by personal disturbances in their magic. They unite to solve a Fate problem affecting the whole city. A very, very engaging and captivating story. I hope there will be more Quigley triplets stories to come.

Bad Publicity by Bianca Gillam

A story about deep pain, sorrow, and guilt. Andie and Jack were getting closer in college when it all blew up. At the same time, her beloved father died. She buried her grief deeply and ran from facing it. This played havoc on her until, as his publisher, she had to travel with Jack on his book tour. Things begin to surface, causing her to continue to deflect the emotions. A moving story.

The Blue Horse by Bruce Burgos

Another thrilling novel of crime and all its ugliness. The characters are superb with quirks and a ton of knowledge. The scenes are enhanced by descriptions of the surrounding territory that draw you further into the story. A true winner.

Overdue by Stephanie Perkins

Honestly, I struggled to read this novel for at least half way. At that point, there were three more hours to the novel and I gave up even though I tried to find any chapter to capture my interest and maintain it.

Love, Unscripted by Denise Hunter

Cute romance of a non-relationship guy and a novelist waiting for her perfect man. He is an actor chosen to play the perfect man in her novel when it is optioned for a movie. She is adamant he is the wrong person due to his reputation. Plus, because of his reputation being in shambles, he and the studio convince her to fake date him. Her request-let her teach him about the character. Will this be the best thing to do or will it mortally fail?

Through an Open Window by Pamela Terry

An enchanting story of how a ghost works in the lives of a woman and her three siblings to bring about changes for each of them. When the aunt who raised a woman begins to appear to her nightly, the woman is confused as to why. It always appears as if the ghost has some urgent message to relay. As the story progresses, the three adult children see her also but they have not a clue as to who she is.

Such a delightful story.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Let's Make a Scene by Laura Wood

I really liked this novel. It incorporates the present and past stories that are filled with engaging scenes and dialog. Combating forces Jack and Cynthis are true to themselves as they battle each other to cover up the feelings they really have.

The Book Club for Troublesome Women by Marie Bostwick

The novel relates the story of women that form a book club and read The Feminine Mystique by Betty Friedan when it was first published. The book challenges the women to look at their lives and at the injustices to women in a male dominated society.

I found the novel to be a slow read. I did not connect with the women although I know the history of the time represented.

When the Marquess Needed Me by Lydia Lloyd

A rollicking story of a marquess becoming the protector of a country woman in need of saving her home. Determined to be a courtesan in high society London, Beatrix asks her cousin and best friend of Leith for an introduction. She asks Leith to be her protector for 500 pounds. Leith is a different sort of rake as Beatric finds out. It is a fun and rather saucy story.

Reckless with the Cowboy by Elsa Winckler

An unusual sensation of more than lustrips into Beckett when he catches Ellie about to fall out a rickety step stool. He has been a player for ages and nothing like this has never happened like how he feels when he catches her. She is not so sure about him due to his reputation. They both have a lot of past to deal with or all hope is lost. A very energetic story.

Holding Out for a Hero by Dakota Harrison & Fiona Marsden

A saucy story of two lives upended by a lovely situation. It pits daughter against controlling mother. A secret is outed and miracles happen.

Challenging her Protector by Charlee Jams

Such a sweet and lovely story of a man learning through a delightful woman to slowly destroy his self-imposed isolation. She has been controlled and sheltered all her life by her demanding parents. When she is freed from the horror, she sees the world through absolutely fresh and amazed eyes. Their developing love is a delightful journey.

The Stolen Life of Colette Marceau by Kristin Harmel

An indescribable novel relates the story of a jewel thief, German occupation of France, and a woman’s long search for her lost sister. Told in past and current events, it is deeply moving and an excellent story.

The Woman Who Got Her Spark Back by Fiona Gibson

Celia’s life was rather dull but she was content with her plant hospital, son Logan and husband until she found him in the middle of a compromising position. She is thrown for a loop when long ago friend Amanda shows up. Celia’s life begins to shift for her. Her journey forward is an eye opener and things start to evolve.

Stuck in Midlife with You by Freya Kennedy

Honest and very true story with up and down emotions of menopausal women in their mid-forties, Stuck in the Middle with You is a fabulous telling of the struggle of three friends all caught in the grips of midlife crises. The story boldly expresses their emotions of anxiety, joy, fear and others that they experience and face. A getaway weekend to a women’s wellness retreat begins the steps to wholeness again.
