The Package by Kimberley Troutte

A futuristic novel filled with spies, a divided country, a precious package to deliver to the free states. Mayhem and atrocities occur on an opulent train for the wealthy. There is no one to trust except your partner as you travel through the autocratic country. Thriller and chiller.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Second Chance Romance by Carol Mason

Cutest enemies to friends story. The parents of a very young couple who have “fallen in Love” much to the horror of their respective parents decide they must find a way to break them up before they rush off an elope. Bickering back and forth at  each other while trying to devise a plan creates enough tension to spark something between them. It all comes between a scorned woman and a man with a closed heart. A very engaging story.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of the book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

When I Lost You by Kelley Rimmer

I do not know whether or not I liked this book. Feeling connections with the characters was difficult as both were exasperating. Leo is driven by his career and arrogance about it. Their touching moments after Leo has a horrible injury get lost into the tense ones so that the good folds over into the bad and is lost. Molly came from an ultrarich home and is used to comforts that Leo never had. Leo’s failure to compromise his long time away in war zones creates deep resentment and disdain in Molly. Theirs is a difficult relationship whose lasting duration rests on the time they spend together while Leo is trying to regain four years of memory.

One Lucky Cowboy by Kristine Lynn

There is so much going on in this book creating a great read. Characters clash, each with personal debates and desires. Brothers Jax and Bennett have different goals, neither wanting compromise. Maggie is experiencing a high risk pregnancy and fully depends on her partner in business to carry so much weight. Jill is trying to accommodate Maggie but yearns to return to the big city. She is also falling for Jax who is falling for her but has lacked complete communication with her. Can the clashes be resolved before by everyone before they are all hurt?

Bear's Heart by Jane Porter

An absolutely touching story of a hope filled optimistic young woman and a grizzly paraplegic man who find something in each other beyond anything they could imagine. It is not an easy relationship. It has a considerable amount of rough terrain. Each of them want the best for the other and their ideas do not always mesh. Reading how their relationship developed was a powerful statement of how love conquers all.

The Cliffs by J. Courtney Sullivan

I thought I would enjoy this book as it sounded good. It turned out, to me, to be less of a story and more of a history lesson on the indigenous of Maine. The characters were not inviting, rather tedious and boring without solid personalities. They felt secondary to the history information.

Maid of Dishonor by Nancy Robards Thompson

A murder in the midst of a rehearsal dinner leaves everyone in a state of shock. No one can fathom why an innocent woman was killed. There are so many suspects who have motives that lies are overflowing. The joint wedding business of Jenna, Maddie, and Gigi cannot help themselves but to investigate. A whodunit with lots of twists.

Fated by Sarah Ready

This book is so great that I stayed up until two am to finish it. The characters are well rounded and the story will grab you and hold on. Wait until the end-it is so unexpected and surprising. A reread for certain.

A Novel Summer by Jamie Brenner

Shelby is surprised when her other friend Hunter feels that Shelby’s unflattering portrayal of a young woman is Hunter.  All the women are experiencing difficulties and compassion is what they truly need. It is a hurricane summer for them as they try to navigate hurts and possibly regain what they have lost.

Forgiving Her First Love by Dani Collins

Time to fall in love with this second chance romance. The characters are wonderful with quirks and personality. Everyone has a voice including a loveable and very astute little boy. Plus, there are all types of drama to liven things up. Delightful.

Shades of Mercy by Bruce Burgos

Incredible book filled with events to shake you up. High level computer hacking of missile laden drones, smuggled drugs, deaths, and everyone searching for a girl with different motives. An edge of your seat thriller.

The Lost Story by Meg Shaffer

A story, a fairy tale, a fairy tale story within a story. Whichever you call it, The Lost Story is a fabulous book. Two teen boys lost in a forest kingdom-one cannot remember it, the other cannot forget or talk about it. The one who remembers can find lost women and girls, The one who cannot remember paints pictures and creates sculptures depicting the kingdom. When approached by a woman to find her lost sister in the same forest, the boys reunite after fifteen years and the fairy tale begins.

A wonderful, fantastical novel.

It had to be You by Beth Moran

I love Beth Moran books-very well told with integrated themes running seamlessly through the story. The topic of a foster home of loving and caring parents and the part of a harrowing loss of a teen love play directly on the current time of a second chance. But swirling around is duty and misgivings and a whole host of problems. It is a lovely story of family chaos and lasting love.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Summer Pact by Emily Giffin

An outstanding novel relating the journey three longtime friends take to escape the disappointments they experience. Once a foursome, Lainy, Tyson, Hannah, and Summer were closest of friends when tragedy struck. Lainy, Tyson and Hannah make a pact to always be there if anything happens to make then need their friends. Years later, they take a vacation that tests their bonds and their relationships.

The Near Miss by Lily Joseph

An endearing story of two ships that continually pass in the night. It seems Nick and Wren are always near each other when disaster happens but they never meet. Long held secrets by people dear to Nick and Wren whirl around them and never seem to get answered. It is very witty how the author played with the theme of passing ships with Nick and Wren always close but never close enough.

Rumors Ruin the Duke by Karla Kratovil

Such a terrific book. It is filled with spicy love scenes, a murder or more to be solved, and a sharp witted woman filled with love. Secrets of a friend society darken the path to solving the murders.

Hisses, Hexes, and Homicide by Deanna Drake

A light and cute mystery with a stolen hexed scarab, murders, jealousy and many possible suspects that aspiring sleuth Rebecca involves herself with. In her opinion, the police have found the murderer and will not pursue other possible suspects. She searches for clues in the likeliest places only to find more suspects.

The Diary of the Last House before the Sea by Liz Eeles

A captivating and enjoyable story of a family filled with repressed emotions and of the woman who shakes them out of it. As she pursues the reason of a suicide of a woman of the manor years prior, her inquisitiveness and determination moves the foundations of long held and accepted beliefs.

You'll Never Find Me by Allison Brennan

A thrilling novel and new series by Allison Brennan. Margo Angelhart, a private investigator is challenged to work on a case with her family’s PI company, one she left after a huge disagreement with her mother. Their case overlaps and intersects and all of them need each other’s input to get to the bottom of things.

Nightbirds by Kate J. Armstrong

A mystical story of rebellion against a place run by church fanatics determined to destroy any forms of magic. Magic is a gross sin and must be expunged from society. In this place, reside three powerful witches whose power has been masked until it erupts into a powerful force. An exciting and engaging story.

This Used to be Us by Renee Carlino

Renee Carlino writes books with heart and soul in them-the joyfulness, the sadness, and the anger. She translates emotion into a real feeling that you experience while reading. This is an exceptional novel telling the story of a married couple whose relationship has eroded over time and fallen into daily conflict and resentment. The beauty of the story is in the way they learn about themselves and of the love they once held dear.

Under Your Spell by Laura Wood

You have to read this book if you love an absolutely beautiful story that will wind its way around your heart. There are three sisters-all daughters of a rock star and born only months apart. There is a very handsome and talented musician so in love with one sister. Plus, there is the sisters’ spell that reaches into each of the sisters’ lives. A truly witty and very enjoyable book.

The World After Alice by Lauren Eliza Green

I honestly tried to find my way through this novel but to no avail. What I did read was disjointed and lacked an even flow. It did not hold my interest in pursuing the story further. I am sure that others will embrace this novel.

Lenny Marks Gets Away with Murder by Kerryn Mayne

An interesting book but I could only read half. The story was fraught with repetition and the repetition was tedious. The quirks of Lenny Marks were true to someone with autism or OCD, her early life was horrible, and her adult life is lonely and marred exceedingly by the abuse she received as a child. The story would grow interesting and my hope was that it would continue as such but it would fade again.
