The influence of parenting weighs heavily in this book. May, Lily, her daughter and Nick, Lily’s son all have a story to tell and each has been imprinted with their upbringing and parental desire for them. Lily’s story is first. She is drifting in life. Next is Nick and he is socially inept and was overly controlled by Lily. Last is May, a story of life under belligerent brothers, a mousy mother, and the im[act of Mao Tsetung in China. Both mothers are driven to let their children make their own choices but in reality, stifle them.
A very interesting novel.
The summer of sisters Sara and Hannah and their Aunt Maggie is full of questions for each of them. Will Maggie and Ritchie reconcile? Will Hannah finish her book? Where does Spencer fit for her? Is Sara’s part time job too much competition for her family?
The premise is good but the story moves along very slowly. I found myself bored and wanting to jump chapters.
Old lies and new ones join together to form more than a murder mystery. The characters are well written and the story is twisted. You never know what is going to happen and throw in a hurricane and suspicions compound. Very engaging.
Twists, turns, and captivating plot are present in this book. A murder happens and motives are abundant for each character. There are secrets and lies muddling the investigation. One character is alert to nuances and divining fact from fiction but even she is not sure of the culprit or culprits.
Julian is what a true man should be: caring, honorable, and a listener. To Samantha, he would be wonderful to love but her past and druggie mother hold her back. Her greatest fear is that Julian would reject her if she told him about her past. There is more to him than she realizes and a horrible event might prove it.
An engaging story with lots of spice.

One big problem with the book ARC is that the chapters are not clearly defined. The additional comments of the coastal town dwellers feel out of place and add nothing to the plot. There is a large amount of repetition that tends to annoy.
A romance within a thriller that will chill your bones. Artfully written to balance the horror is a loving family and a deliciously slow build romance. The story honestly gave me a nightmare so I quit reading it at night.
A delightful rescue the runaway bride romance. I love novels where romance sneaks up on the characters and there is denial. This story covers sneaky romance, a jerk of a groom, and a cool getaway. While Izzy is running away with limo driver Will, he ends up running toward the disaster he feels responsible for with his family in Montana. They really just need to run to each other.
Another Elena Armas book to love! It begins with a lie that snowballs into a wedding. Pushed by a ruthless PR person, backed by her absent her whole life father, Josie is thrown into all of it with her half-sister’s best friend Matthew. Josie has four failed weddings already. She vows Matthew will not be number five. She hopes she and Matthew will walk away friends but nothing ever goes the way you plan it.
Competitive and often surly, Bethany does meet her match in Ethan. They get off on the wrong foot at first meet. Unless there is some clearing of the air, their competitiveness will overrule any chance of the simmering romance. Cute story.
