Old Flames and New Fortunes by Sarah Hogle

Many times I open a new book at the end of another. After finishing this book, I would rather ruminate on this story and all the colors between the pages-colors of love, of uncertainty, of destiny. The story of Rumina and Alex is complex, filled with the heartache of the past and the hope of the future. I can only hope the story will continue with ones of Zelda and Luna.

Welcome Home, Caroline Kline by Courtney Preiss

A great story mixing fun and tension of a men’s softball league team with the reincarnation of a woman needing to reclaim her person. Caroline is at crossroads-return home to her ailing father and stay longer than planned to replace him on a men’s softball team or return to New York with no boyfriend, no job, and no apartment. Staying, she has to deal with grumpy, resenting teammates that resist having a woman on the team. She also reconnects with her longtime crush but as friends. It is an easy to read, delightful (and often not) story.

The Summer We Started Over by Nancy Thayer

A deliciously lovely story of lives transitioning into new beginnings. Told in the voices of sisters Eddie and Barrett, the changes in their lives are exciting but often scary. Their work is cut out for them to get to a place of assurance. They are dealing with a reclusive father, calming a nervous romance writer, and finding love that awaits them. A gem of a novel.

Weekends with You by Alexandra Paige

This story of romance between Lucy and Henry is a journey into snatches of kisses and weeks of yearning. Henry and Lucy live in a warehouse apartment with several quirky roommates-fun and crazy roommates. They keep Lucy alive while Henry spends all but one weekend a month away for work. Loads of ups and downs to traverse.

Danger in the Outback by Nicole Flockton

Bunja Junction is a safe harbor for a teacher escaping a stalker ex-boyfriend. She meets the local police officer and a chance at love begins. But, her stalker is always on the prowl. Luckily, the officer is ready to protect her. Love and danger collide in this book.

A Chain of Pearls by Raemi A. Ray

Such a great mystery/whodunit novel. The characters are well written with believable personalities and reactions. There are plenty of rabbit trails to keep you guessing to the end. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

Once Upon A Summer Night by Kyra Jacobs

Caught between wanting to stay with her reunited family and the love of a good man and the chance for a terrific job promotion many miles away, Hannah Brooks is torn. She and her guardian son have found the love of her family and the care of the community have infused their lives with trust and warmth. Her newish relationship with longtime friend Chase is her saving grace. But, no dilemma is easily solved.

A heart touching story of love and family.

All's Fair with Love and Cowboys by Kristin Lynn

A second chance at romance may be on the horizon but there are too many difficult obstacles in the way. Maggie and Bennett are perfect for each other. His series of stumbles make him so endearing. She is a force to be reckoned with. A lasting forever love is only possible when defenses fall and love shines through.

House of Glass by Sarah Pekkanen

Talk about a thriller! I could not put this book down. It grew creepier with every page. An ad litem lawyer gets caught in a web of deceit with a muted by trauma child at the center. Adding to the story is the lawyer’s search for the true details about her mother’s death which cause intensified emotions.

The Promise of Tomorrow by Mary Ellen Taylor

A very touching novel of a woman’s shattered emotions after her daughter is stillborn and of the emotional return home to sign divorce papers and attend her sister’s engagement party. She has been traveling for a year trying to outrun her grief. Her husband is a good guy, torn by needing her and by family obligations. The story is solid. The characters’ portrayals are on point.

Frequent Fliers by Noue Kirwan

A delectable story of a relationship that develops between seatmates who fly to London. An uncomfortable meeting on a flight moves on to an enjoyable time of conversation. When they find themselves again on another flight, they become seat mates on purpose. Their relationship progresses, however messy things are in their separate lives.

Within Arm's Reach by Ann Napolitano

Truly intriguing and fascinating is this story of a dysfunctional family in a time of intense trouble. The thoughts and actions of five family members and a caretaker tell a tale of unhappy and confused people experiencing upheaval and of their coping mechanisms. All come to play when an unplanned pregnancy throws everyone into personal chaos.

Second Chance at the Crossing by Fiona M. Marsden

A terrific story filled with past mistakes, failed communication, and the strong ties of love.

The Truth about the Devlins by Lisa Scottoline

I have read several books by this author and just like them, this book is fantastic. Characters are developed in a smooth manner-some to love, others to seriously dislike, others to empathize with. The story rolls out in perfect tempo, allowing for the reader to think in tandem with the characters.

I highly recommend this novel.

Sweetheart Season by Megan Squires

Sweet and lovely romances are so easy to love. Sweetheart Season is a wonderful story about a baker and a new to the community fireman. Their feelings spring on them and slowly evolve into more. A wholesome and engaging book.
