The Lonely Hearts Lido Club by Charlie Lyndhurst

A completely enchanting novel that will touch your heart and soul. The Characters of Ian, Gabriella, and Helen are so well written and their troubles are so relatable. The friendship they form is touching as they help each other in so many ways as their relationships grow and blend. I could feel each of their pain in the situations they were in and felt compassion for them.

Quicksand by Janet Dailey

A rodeo tale of revenge and of love flies off the page like a bull rider on a bucking bull. Danger and death trail a bull breeder and the woman he has fallen for. Revenge is the key and the why and the who hold the lock that may kill them both.

Would You Rather by Allison Ashley

A friends to lovers sweet romance with a boatload of complications arising. Mia has a serious health problem requiring the medical insurance she has with her work. She is awarded a full scholarship to return to college, her dream. Full time college equals quitting her job and losing her insurance. Noah, her best friend, offers to marry her to solve  the problem. A bumpy road lies ahead for this couple.

The Make-up Test by Jenny L. Howe

This novel was just okay-really not memorable or engaging. The problems that a main character, Allison, has are over related and repeated seemingly to add to the plot but really added to my total dislike of her. I just could not connect with her nor care about how things would turn out.

The Witches of Moonshyne Manor by Bianca Marais

A feminist teenager endears herself to the six witches-one a ghost-of Moonshyne Manor. The witches are in danger of losing their home to a proposed men only resort. Young Persephone brings her feminist ideas to the six octogenarian witches and combined they blend to work their magic.
I loved the character and personalities of the six witches, each with strengths and weaknesses and each very different from each other. Persephone is a breath of determined fresh air.

Cut to the Chase by Amy Kathryn Jones

Great ending for the A Matched Romance series. The novel has sparks, spice and deliciousness combined. The story does an excellent job of dealing with the effects of anxiety and panic attacks that affect a main character.

Secrets in Cypress Bayou by Susan Sands

Hired by her teen crush, Tanner, lawyer Carly and he set out to solve the mystery of missing daughter and grandmother. The biological daughter has been searching for them to no avail and enlist Carly and Tanner’s help. Corruption abounds in this very enjoyable novel with its great characters.

Won't Back Down by Shelli Stevens

The bro code erupts on the scene when Tori and James start a red hot romance. James’ arrogant cousin is bound and determined to put out the flame on this romance and pick up Tori for his own purposes. Things get seriously blazing in this novel with all the spice it has.

Great Sexpectations by Kristen Bailey

Funny and fun story written with such humor to satisfy your funny bone.

Josie meets Cameron and they really like-like each other. Josie’s hiding a huge secret from Cameron-her parents used to work in the adult entertainment industry and they own an adult toy business. Josie does not want the family business to ruin her chances with Cameron. Best secrets have a way of being exposed and the cards will fall where they lay.

Sugar and Salt by Susan Wiggs

Margot Salton is a woman of inner strength who rewrites her life and finds love with Jerome Salt. Her past life keeps intruding on her new found life and love. Hers is a very, very tender yet brutal story of a young woman’s horrendous journey in the Texas justice system when she is charged with murder after a brutal rape.

An excellent read that will cause your heart to soar and to hurt extremely.

California Promises by Erin Spineto

A rather slow moving rom-com of friends to lovers that takes almost to the end to pick up traction. Charlie’s Type 1 diabetes is in the story and seemed like an afterthought rather than anything that influenced her. In contrast, Grayson’s PTSD did have an effect on him and their friendship.

Someone Else's Honeymoon by Phoebe MacLeod

I will be honest, Someone Else’s Honeymoon was not a favorite of mine although I did try to like the story. I found it to be very slow moving and the characters lacked depth.

The Lost Witch by Paige Crutcher

This is a captivating novel full of witches and eerie happenings. The characters of Bridget, Knightly, Ophelia, and Fiona are well written and enchanting. The story is one of lost loves, a haunted town, a wicked lake, and the four witches that evilly hold the lake and its ungodly inhabitants. It is up to Bridget, Ophelia, and Fiona with the help of Knightly to seal the lake backup and stop the terrible terror the four witches have wrought over the town of Evermore.

Wherever the Wind Takes Us by Kelly Harms

Wherever the Wind Takes Us was the perfect book to read while confined to my dinky room with Covid 19. The story reads like the sailboat the characters are sailing-smooth over a glass sea or riding over choppy waves.

Granted a beautiful sailboat in her divorce, Becky decides to sell it for the money it will bring her. She enlists the help of Grant, a sailing teacher and skilled sailor. Becky chooses to sail the boat to the owner from Maine to Miami. She and her daughter Olivia begin the journey only to have Olivia bail and call in Grant to sail it with her mother. From this point a true adventure in learning and in love begins.

Spells for Forgetting by Adrienne Young

Chilling and deep is the story on the island of Saoirse. The novel is hard to put down and extremely engrossing. The story of August and Emery is heartbreaking and lovely.

August and Emery grew up and loved each other on the island of Saoirse in the Puget Sound until two horrible incidents drove August and his mother away. Fourteen years have passed and August returns to bury his mother. The evils of the island awaken again to wreak havoc on August and Emery. Maybe, at last, the truth will come out before August returns home.

A Little Wilder by Serena Bell

After reading A Little Wilder, I immediately sought out the previous Wilder books. It was so good-touching, enjoyable, and fun. The heart of the story is boy next door, Kane, has a very short interlude with Mari who gets pregnant. Neither knows who each other is and they end up seeing each other again and the story takes off from there.

The Gunslinger's Guide to Avoiding Matrimony by Michelle McLean

A delightfully funny novel filled with the absurdly amusing antics of a gunslinger who finds a hidden town where he can retire from the law. The problem is he must either marry or find a job to stay there. He is so not into marrying but accidentally does during a group wedding ceremony. His bride is actually perfect for him if he was the marrying type. Lots of crazy things ensue that make the novel laughingly move along. I loved it.

Caper Crush by Kathy Strobos

I really liked this novel combining stolen art and found love. The characters of William and Miranda are fun and flirty even if William seems to be more staid. Their uncles are so sweet and devoted to each other and to trying to push William and Lorrie together. It is a fun story, engaging to read and so clever.

Other Birds by Sarah Addison Allen

I was captivated from the first chapter in this engaging novel threaded with ghosts and the people who they watch over in a small, old building of condos. It is also the story of a young woman, Zoey the college girl trailed by Pigeon, who moves to the complex and draws the other residents into friend relationships: Mac the chef trailed by Camile and Frasier trailed by Lizbeth. They are joined by Oliver and Charlotte who each have their own stories. This group of formerly detached people form bonds they all need and are desperately missing.

It is a lovely story of hard childhoods that formed these adults, each wanting connections but not knowing where to find them until Zoey arrives to touch their lives.

Thank You for Listening by Julia Whelan

I am not an audio book person and this novel sparked my interest in the behind the scenes work of the voices on them. Sewanee is an audio book voice going through so many life altering experiences at once: grandmother with dementia, detached divorced father, wanting life to return to where it once was. The chance for a lucrative voice job is a saving grace. As life unfolds so do her insecurities, desires, and chances for love.

The Wedding Ranch by Nancy Naigle

A very sweet story combining a widower and divorcee as friends to more than friends. Even with the troubles they have and encounter, Ryder and Lorri are meant to be. Those troubles and encounters may prove to be too hard to overcome.

Mad Honey by Jodi Picoult and Jennifer Finney Boylan

The joint writing effort of Jodi Picoult and Jennifer Finney Boylan creates an unparalleled view into two lives connected by a son/boyfriend. It is a novel worthy of your time  that will enrich your mind and touch your soul.

The Means by Amy Fusselman

This is a funny, funny story with witticisms galore and so very relatable. I laughed out loud several times at the sidebars on life in general and on diaper changing in specific. The story about a couple trying to build a container beach house in the Hamptons is fraught with problems and loaded with characters. I enjoyed it immensely.

One Night with You by Fortune Whelan

Cheramie’s life is all plotted out by her overbearing mother. She is in for a surprise when Cheramie finally decides to take her own reins with Deacon. A single night of abandonment goes from goodbye to what are you doing here when Deacon shows up in Cheramie’s small hometown and wins the contract to revitalize the promenade. Spice and fireworks best describe this story.

Hard Road Home by Fiona Marsden

Love is not always easy with hearts and flowers abounding. It can be a hard traveled road with pitfalls and ruts. So it is for Bonnie and Xander, friends since forever, off and on lovers. Miscommunications, insecurities, and a big fight separated them until he returned from his last band tour determined to rekindle the love they had.

It is a lovely novel of love that could be again, love that could be finally forever.

Calling All Angels by Barbara Ankrum

An easy to read and decidedly engaging novel with a hot guardian angel and his lady charge. Lost and hurtful love across the ages mixes with a hit and run accident that brings Angel Conor and not dead yet but not really alive Emma together. The magic of angel love shines through.

A Rebel's Mantra by Swapna Srinivasan

Love and dis-chord play on the pages for Laila a singer/songwriter and Hari a pediatrician. In this engaging story, Laila falls for Hari but her life is in flux as she was let go from her band. Laila’s aunt is matchmaking Hari for her daughter. Hari is matchmaking for Laila. Poor Laila is caught in the middle.

Tastes So Sweet by Kelly Cain

Weston and Ryan have been friends since she started work at his father’s upscale restaurant. Things finally heat up between them problematically as the restaurant has a no fraternization policy. Plus his dad is a super cranky and difficult person who can make the work trying.

There is so much more to this captivating novel including Ryan’s monetary difficulties and her desire to enter a top management competition and Weston’s life choices. It’s a brew of love, competition, worries and decisions that will keep you reading.

Hometown Cowboy by Dakota Harrison

Hometown Cowboy about broke my heart. The ever present but unspoken love of Darby and Ryan drives a story of a woman sure of her feelings and a man unsettled in his. She is a woman standing firm and he is a mess of past and present emotions. Such a great story.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Hot Texas Trouble by Eve Gaddy

A former undercover DEA agent and a very hot app creator find themselves falling for each other in this winning novel. Jedidiah Walker is seeking peace and safety away from her former undercover job. Trevor looks like he fits the bill. Lots can happen and does to make a relationship and love be too far away to grasp hold of.

The Cowboy's Texas Heart by E. Elizabeth Watson

So much happening in The Cowboy’s Texas Heart and all of it is beautifully written. Your heartstrings will play to the music of emotions between Tyler and Heart who have a heat almost too hot to handle. They both have deeply held emotional secrets waiting for the right person to trustfully divulge. I loved the engrossing story of Tyler and Heart and all the complications they encountered.
